Cookie Pet Care ("Cookie", "we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application that helps pet owners manage their pets' daily care, health records, reminders, shopping lists, and expenses. We do not collect data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our app.
By using Cookie, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Information We Collect
a) Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store the following from your Google account:
- Email address
- Display name
- Profile photo URL
- Google account identifier
We do not have access to your Google password. Authentication is handled securely through secure authentication services.
b) Pet Information
You may provide information about your pets, including:
- Name, type (cat, dog, or other), breed, and gender
- Birthdate or age
- Weight
- Photos (uploaded from your device's camera or photo library)
- Notes or descriptions
c) Health Records
You may store your pets' health information, including veterinary visits, vaccinations, medications, surgeries, and attached documents or images.
d) Reminders
You may create reminders for pet care tasks. Reminder data includes titles, dates, times, repeat schedules, and associated pets.
e) Shopping Lists
You may create shopping list items with titles, categories, prices, notes, and associated pets.
f) Expense Data
You may track pet-related expenses including amounts, currencies, categories, dates, and descriptions. Expense summaries are automatically calculated for your convenience.
g) Household Data
Cookie supports shared households where multiple users can collaborate on pet care. When you create or join a household, we store the household name, member list, roles, and email-based invitations.
h) Device Information
We may collect device-level information for app functionality, including notification tokens for delivering local reminders and device attestation data to prevent abuse.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the app's features
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Enable real-time data sharing between household members
- Schedule and deliver local notification reminders on your device
- Calculate and display expense summaries and analytics
- Process household invitations
- Verify device integrity
- Debug issues and improve app performance
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using trusted cloud infrastructure providers. All data is:
- Encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
- Encrypted at rest by our cloud infrastructure provider
- Protected by strict security rules that restrict access based on your authenticated identity and household membership
- Further secured by device integrity checks
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Data Sharing
a) Within Your Household
When you are a member of a household, all pet data, reminders, shopping lists, health records, and expenses within that household are shared with other household members in real-time. Access is controlled by roles:
- Owners have full access and can manage members
- Editors can create, edit, and delete household data
- Viewers have read-only access
b) Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate our app and services. These providers may have access to your information only to perform tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose. These services include:
- Authentication services
- Cloud database and storage services
- Server-side processing services
- Security and integrity services
These services are subject to their respective Privacy Policies. We do not share your data with any other third parties.
c) Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.
5. Photos and Files
Cookie may request access to your device's camera and photo library to allow you to upload pet photos and health record attachments. Photos and files you upload are stored in our secure cloud storage and are accessible only to members of your household. We do not access your camera or photo library without your explicit permission.
6. Notifications
Cookie uses local device notifications to remind you about pet care tasks. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. We do not send push notifications from our servers. You can disable notifications at any time through your device's settings or the app's settings screen.
7. Children's Privacy
Cookie is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time.
- Correction: You can update your pet information, reminders, and other data through the app.
- Deletion: You can delete your account from the Account screen. This will remove your user profile and, if you are the sole owner of a household, all household data including pets, reminders, expenses, and health records.
- Portability: All your data is accessible and viewable through the app interface.
- Opt-out: You can disable notifications and revoke camera/photo permissions through your device settings.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your user profile is permanently deleted
- Your membership in all households is removed
- If you are the sole owner of a household and choose to delete it, all household data (pets, reminders, expenses, shopping lists, and health records) is permanently deleted
- Your authentication account is permanently deleted
If you leave a household without deleting your account, data you contributed to that household (e.g., reminders, expenses) may remain accessible to other household members.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data is processed and stored on secure cloud servers, which may be located outside your country of residence. By using Cookie, you consent to the transfer of your data to these servers. Our cloud providers comply with applicable data protection frameworks.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
